Our Brand Story

Octo Engineering Inc. is a private engineering firm founded in 2014 by Scott Riley Wilson, P.Eng. The company’s name, OCTO, was inspired by the number eight — a symbol of resilience and new beginnings — and by Scott’s son, who was born on the 8th day of October.

OCTO also represents our core values:

In 2014, Octo Engineering Inc. started as a sole proprietorship, but the company did not start regular business until 2017 following Scott’s lay off. What seemed to be a halt in his career has turned into a life changing opportunity to work for himself and hone his craft, cultivate what matters and build something lasting — a company driven by purpose, integrity, and community impact. Octo Engineering was officially incorporated on April 1, 2019.

Our Growth

Operations began in 100 Mile House, BC in early 2017. In 2019, the company opened a field office in Kamloops, expanding its reach across the region. By 2022, Octo refocused its efforts on serving the Cariboo region and surrounding communities, where its roots run deepest.

In 2020, Scott relocated the head office to Williams Lake, BC — the heart of the region and a place that feels like home. The company acquired its Williams Lake headquarters property in September 2021, solidifying its presence in the community.

Driven by the principle of “Purpose Before Profit,” Octo Engineering expanded once again by acquiring a second building in Quesnel, BC. This expansion reflects our belief that quality engineering services should be accessible, affordable, and community-driven, ensuring long-term value for both our clients and the region we serve.
